Sugar in Urine -- Dangers and Information
86Sugar in Urine
Urine is one of the most indicative substances in the human body, and having sugar in urine can be one of the major warning signs that your body is going through a impending change. Your body is constantly expelling things it doesn't need or can't use. If you think about it, every time you take a breath, your body is expelling carbon dioxide, CO2, as waste and taking in new oxygen. Urine is another way that the body regularly expels waste and chemicals it doesn't need. It's important to note that urine isn't just a mix of toxins and harmful waste products. If you're drinking enough water, urine should be mostly clear and clean. Urine is essentially a way for the body to expel the waste it no longer needs.
That's where sugar in urine comes into play. In general, when your body isn't processing sugar correctly, it may get filtered out by the organs and expelled through urine. Having sugar in your urine is a pretty good sign that there's something going on inside your body that's causing it to not be able to handle sugar correctly. If your body is functioning normally, there shouldn't be any sugar in your urine. There are very few natural situations that could cause sugar to end up in your urine on a regular basis, because ordinarily, if the body has too much sugar, it should be processed and stored in cells as energy for later use.
Glucose Regulation
Different bodies process glucose differently. Blood sugar fluctuates constantly throughout the day, and the levels at which it fluctuates are different for different persons. If you are experiencing glucose problems, like having glucose in your urine, it might not be a bad idea to check out some natural supplements that can help to regulate blood sugar levels. I've done some research and from what I've read, Holy Basil is both cheap and effective at helping the body process sugar. It has been studied in clinical trials on patients with type 2 diabetes and has been shown to be effective at regulating blood glucose.
What's in Urine?
Urine, when tested, gives us an insight into the compounds that the body feels it can't use. Most often urine is comprised of water because we generally drink more liquid than the body can utilize, and it's important to have an overabundance of water in order to help the body flush itself of toxins and other things. But the other, non-water compounds found in urine give us a clue into what the body thinks it either has too much of, or things that aren't usable. Sugar is so useful that the body will either use it immediately or else store it in various places if it can't use it immediately.
Sugar in Urine -- What Does it Mean?
If there is sugar in your urine, it could be a possible sign of diabetes or kidney infection. In addition, there are a few other things that can cause sugar to enter the bloodstream. A few prescription drugs have that as a listed side effect, so if you're on any prescriptions and you're worried about having sugar in your urine, check the side effects before getting too worried. But in most cases, sugar in urine generally means that the body is beginning to have a problem processing sugar correctly, which means that you're probably already slightly diabetic, or in the initial stages. If this is you, and you already know that you have sugar in your urine, contact your doctor immediately and schedule an appointment to have yourself checked out.
If you aren't sure whether or not you have sugar in your urine, there are various urine tests that you can use in order to test yourself. If you're in the preliminary stages and just want to see if there's sugar in your urine, I've given a link to a great urine test product below. If you're going the route of blood testing, here are a few general numbers for where your blood sugar ought to be at. In normal persons glucose levels should be between 70 and 150 mg. This varies however, and are sometimes lower in the morning, and right after you eat. Blood sugar out of this range can be labeled hypoglycemic or hyperglycemic, which are both potentially dangerous and uncomfortable situations.
About Urine Tests
Urine tests are one of those often looked down on forms of testing. People see them as substandard to blood tests. But in fact, it's just the opposite. Urine is often more indicative of your body's overall condition than blood is, because your body has ways of compensating the blood in times of need. Take calcium for example. If you were in the initial stages of calcium deficiency, your body would begin to leach calcium from your bones to replenish the supply in your bloodstream, and simply by taking a blood test, you would never know that anything was wrong. Urine is a very indicative substance because knowing what the body is getting rid of can give you a great insight into what's really going on inside. A good urine test is a great thing to take as a regular practice.

Sadly my dad has got Diabetes that life ..
plz advised me
My young daughter was given a urine test to see if she had a bladder infection. Nurse-pract came back alarmed, saying the sugar was over 1000! Daughter looked fine, not thirsty, no history. Well, until she heard this, then she was crying!
NP rushed us to far off emergency room, 2 hours away. We went. They did not find *any* sugar in urine and blood was normal, too! Said she was slightly dehydrated. (When she could have had a drink to remedy this, they gave her an IV.) We are now paying for this fiasco out of our own pocket. All I wanted was a strep test. She didn't have a bladder infection, history of bladder infection or any reason for me to think she had one in the first place.
Why would any doctors office make this mistake? How could they think she really had a reading of 1000? Obviously there was something wrong about the test.
For the type of work i do everytime i change company i need to have a medical! The very first one back in 08, my urine test came back with sugar in it, they were quite concerned! Since then, every other test ive done has been fine! The doctor at the time told me, sometimes it means nothing, the human body is an amazing thing, and on that day for some unknown reason sugar got into my urine! So if you have a test and theres sugar in your urine, dont panic immediately, as it could just be a random one off, like mine was. Otherwise, stay healthy.
Nice information on the dangers of detecting sugar in urine because so many people doesn't know that sugar in urine is a big disease that needs urgent attention before it gets out of hand, thanks for this info.
Hey Benji,
Excellent, well written and informative article. I noticed while camping once that ants were attracted to wherever I went to take a leak. (Sorry for the over-share;) It worried me a bit, since in my mind I thought that it had to be sugar in my urine. I ended up getting a blood and urine test, but all was totally A-Ok. I still don't know what it was, the doctor didn't offer any other suggestions. She just said its probably nothing and sent me for the test. (So helpful, lol). It still happens from time to time, but I've noticed that it is usually when I have been inactive i.e. Not exercising. Exercise can be such a great cure-all, I guess that it was burning up any excess sugar. Anyway, I enjoyed your article, Thankyou.
..that aritcle was usefull

Hi,Thanks for nice and informative article. My random blood sugar is 105 mg/dl and corresponding urine sugar is 0.5%. Is this an indication for diabetis? I am under medication for dental treatment. Please advise.
Hello,,i have a urine test this afternoon,,they said i have sugar in my urine,,but they check my sugar,,its only 123 and i dont have insurance to check my blood for that,,do u think that is a life threatening???
I also had an experience this past year where my doctor found sugar in my urine. I have a long history of bladder infections, and I have cystitis (very painful). However, I did a "fasting" test, and everything looked o.k. I also used my parents test kit, and did a "stick" test for sugar levels. It was fine. I was going through a HUGE amount of stress during that time,.. AND I had just eaten lunch before I had arrived at the doctor's office that first time. I agree that the test could be off due to sugar/food intake at the time, stress, or other.
I've found sugar in my urine but my blood sugar is normal. Am worried what's wrong with my body, please help.

Important information. Diabetes in no joke. It is important to have a physical once a year to make sure things are in order. I had to family members die of diabetes in one year. They were only in their 50's.
