Electronic Rat Trap -- The Rodent Electric Chair
77Electronic Rat Trap
An electronic rat trap is just a cool sounding idea. Being a guy, and liking things involving high levels of voltage, an electronic rat trap is right up my alley. I've aptly named the electronic rat trap the rodent electric chair, and have done some research to see how viable and option it is for getting rid of pests. My parents have recently had a lot of trouble with rodents. With large avocado trees and a deck where mice, rats, and other vermin can live, we've seen a high population of rats move into the neighborhood. Traditionally, they've used rat poison as a means of eliminating the pests, but this isn't really the best option for most homes because rat poison can also kill and harm household pets. That's why I love the idea of the electronic rat trap.
An electronic rat trap delivers a lethal 8,500 volts of electricity, which is more than enough capacity for killing large rats and mice, and for giving a nice jolt to any living thing. Dont' worry though, it's perfectly safe for humans. The electronic rat trap has safety features that keep it from harming anything but rodents. And it's small, weighing in at about two pounds. When I was younger, I was enamored with mosquito lights that zapped airborne pests with an affinity for hovering around lighted buildings. Electronic rat traps are equally as cool, and I definitely am eager to see one in action. For more info, check out electronic rat traps.
Kill Rats and Mice
The electronic rat trap, oddly enough, looks like a mail box. But the correspondence inside will be less than good news to rodents simply looking for a nice peanut butter snack. The electronic rat trap has a outside bait station which attracts the rat or mouse using peanut butter, and then applies an 8,500 volt electric shock, which will more than suffice at killing them immediately. The electronic rat trap gets its power from a battery, though a solar powered version would be even more awesome. I've searched but haven't seemed to be able to find one of those yet. The bottom line is that rats and mice are pests, and poison is dangerous, especially to children and household pests. The electronic rat trap is an awesome substitute.
I remember when I was younger, my parents bought one of those plastic owls that you put on the roof, which didn't seem to do anything to scare the rats away, but my dog was absolutely horrified of it, so that was a plus :) It's just funny how many different ideas people will come up with in regards to pest control. It definitely makes a person chuckle.
For some reason I haven't yet been able to determine, it seems that urban regions are beginning to see a higher infestation of rodents than before. As a part time landscaper, I've come across many lawns that have gotten devastated by rabbits, and many fruit trees that are often ravaged by rats, mice, and other rodents. Though I haven't been able to find the cause of this recent infestation, the solution is easy. The electronic rat trap.
Electronic Rodent Trap -- Humane?
Is the electronic rat trap considered humane? To some yes, to some no. In this case, it's up to each individual to decide. Receiving a lethal dose of electricity isn't a very fun experience I'm sure, but most forms of death aren't. Unless you're using some form of repellent that sends the rat out of the yard without killing it, then you're going to have to kill it somehow. And if you're unable to use poison because of children or pets, I'd say you don't have too many options. The electronic rat trap kills rats and mice very quickly, sending 8500 volts of electricity into their systems, which is more than enough juice to kill a small rodent. And the disposal is easy. You'll never have to touch the rat or mouse.

I agree with you, rodents seem to be on the increase every where. The rat is frankly taking over, I have seen an increase here in South Africa over the past three years that amounts to a plague. In some area's people don't go out at night , if they do they get bitten by rats.
I manufacture as you call them the "Electric chair" and am having great success.
I made a 110 house current rodent electric chair out of a kitchen knife a small spring clamp, and the hot side of an extension cord plugged into a fused power strip. smear some wet peanut butter mayo etc on knife blade, set it on a ceramic dinner plate with the baited knife blade protruding enticingly off the plate. set the whole thingy on a sheet of wet newspaper, near the mouse paths. plug in your power strip and go wash your car. The mice come out very nicely toasted, and the power switch trips to prevent the mouse from setting your carpet on fire.
but somtimes you need more then do it at home kit
somtimes you need a professional extermenation company
Yes, rodents are on the rise. I have been seeing evidence of mice in my home lately, but I am pretty sure my wife won’t like the electric chair. I recently found the Kill and Seal Mouse Trap by Victor. I love that this hygienic trap is safe to use around my pets and children. Plus, you never have to touch or see the mouse after it’s been caught.
Here's the trap I'm referring to:
yes that is true but the trap sounds like a good idea
Many of the resemble mouse traps, only on a larger scale. For example, a spring-loaded rat trap can be up to four times as large as a mousetrap. The trap is designed to break the back and spine of a rat, which means, it is also capable of breaking a human finger. If you choose this option, remember that to exercise caution when handling and setting it.
i have a model Hatsan 44-10 works perfect together wit a infrared motion detector thads trigers a beebper when theres is mouvemend, they never get away en are instand gone.
I purchased the units you plug in to an outlet and it gives off something that keeps them out of the house but what happens after that do they go away all together as long as the units are plugged in or do they just stay in the walls and not enter the house, I still set some traps but nothing is showing up in them. Do you know about these units I have Bell & Howell and there is another one named Riddex.
I'm in zimbabwe, recently moved into a place which had pesky roof rats. I found the place they were using to get in to the roof an made a trap to block it. I cut the two ends of a beer can off, wrapping some wire onto the can, so it crosses over one end. Where it crossed i beared the wire, then connected the HV terminals of a flash bulb type beacon light to the can an the wiring. Flash bulb beacon lights work a bit like a fencer / energiser, they pulse a few KiloVolts, non leathal. It's powered by a little 12v ups battery an recharged by an adaptor with a 13.8v 300ma output. I put a bit of peanut butter on the cross, let them eat it off an queeze through for a day while it was off, then I left it on for about two weeks, with a bit more peanut butter, they never managed to finish the bait :) an i havn't heard them lately in the ceiling.
How do I know if my electronic rat trap is on or off?
o/- Which is on and off? I had it set at o and the rat helped herself to bait and my car wires!!

you absolutely right .The Rat Zapper was the first electronic rat and mice trap to be invented and people still loves it.
