Collagen Drink -- Meiji Amino Collagen
75Collagen Drinks -- Meiji Amino Collagen
I've been hearing a lot about collagen drinks recently, and especially about Meiji amino collagen. Collagen drinks are, in theory, supposed to boost levels of collagen in the skin, thereby reducing the appearance of wrinkles. There are multiple ways to infuse collagen into the skin, and cosmetic products in the past have sought to take full advantage of using collagen in topical products. More recently, collagen drinks of many different varieties have been coming out on the market, many utilizing pig collagen as their base foundation, which isn't generally very bio-available, meaning that it doesn't get absorbed through the digestive tract very easily.
There is some debate scientifically as to whether collagen that's ingested actually ever makes it to the skin, or whether it's broken down by the body and either used elsewhere or discarded. There are so many different enzymes and processes in the body that can break down collagen and keep it from reaching the skin from the digestive tract. Many people don't believe that most collagen drinks ever really benefit the skin. That's why I'm intrigued by the claims of one of Japan's most popular collagen drinks, Meiji amino collagen. This collagen drink is made from fish peptide collagen, and is claimed to be more bio-available than collagen from pigs. I went to the testimonials to see what people had to say about Meiji amino collagen. The testimonials for this product seemed very positive, most people rating the Meiji amino collagen very highly. Granted, this isn't scientific evidence, but testimonials are usually a good measure of a product's effectiveness.
There's another Japanese brand called Shiseido, which uses the same type of fish collagen to promote anti aging. This product is a bit different in that it comes in single servings, almost like a shot. These shots are pretty power packed with collagen though, each one containing 1000mg of fish collagen, and boasting to get rid of wrinkles in as little as 3 days. That's a pretty strong claim. I couldn't find their drink yet on Amazon, but I've left you a link to the Meiji amino collagen drink if you'd like to check out more.
Boosting Collagen Naturally
There are many different kinds of natural nutrients that can be called "collagen drinks," and many different ways to boost collagen naturally in the body. Here are just a few.
1. Vitamin C
- The most notable collagen drink out there is Vitamin C in things like orange and lemon juice. Vitamin C promotes collagen production in the body, and many people like to mix drinks like Meiji amino collagen in orange juice to help boost the collagen producing effect in the body. If you're taking collagen supplements, either through topical cosmetics and lotions, or in collagen drinks, you should try boosting collagen naturally through vitamin C intake and see if you experience any positive effects.
- Not only is lemon juice good for it's Vitamin C content, but lemon juice is a great way to detoxify the body. The skin is one of the major dumping stations for excess toxins in the body, and after awhile, if a person doesn't sweat often and doesn't detox their system, the toxins in the skin can begin to cause premature aging. Drinking lemon juice in water is a great way to not only boost collagen but also to help the body detox the toxins that might be storing up in the skin.
2. Fish Oil
- Omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oil are an essential part of healthy living. Not only do they make up much of the tissue in the brain, they also are integral to healthy skin. Omega 3 fatty acids are one of the wonder drugs that everyone could use more of. Because of a number of different factors, the Standard American Diet is heavily deficient in Omega 3 fatty acids, and because of it, many problems have been attributed to a lack of Omega 3s in normal diets, problems including things like chronic depression and also a lack of skin radiance and health.
3. Tomato Juice
- Tomatoes contain an antioxidant called lycopene, which apart from being very healthy for you, can help to inhibit the enzyme that breaks down collagen. Tomato juice is a great way to get lots of great nutrients and also to help ensure collagen health.

Very interesting to hear that lycopene helps to inhibit the enzyme that breaks down collagen. Pumpkin pips also aid in collagen production because of the copper and zinc they contain. Great hub, thank you!
