Art Deco Bedroom Furniture -- Geometric Excellence!!

Being a guy with no fashion sense whatsoever, art deco bedroom furniture is something I've actually gotten into, because art deco bedroom furniture has geometric excellence, which all guys love. It's just really cool looking stuff. Now, for those of you who are unfamiliar with art deco, it's basically defined as an international art movement popular in the 1920's and 30's, influencing not only art, but architecture and other aspects of society. It was marked mainly by geometric shapes and styalized designs, as you'll see in the pictures below. Recently, it seems to have made something of a comeback, especially in home furniture and bedroom furniture. I've come up with a collection of really cool art deco stuff, mostly art deco bedroom furniture that I think would be really cool to own.

Now I'm not one to usually get into furniture or interior design, but there's something really cool about art deco furniture. Art deco furniture, especially bedroom furniture, tends to be small and overtly oriented towards geometric design. Look at the picture to the right. This is a classic art deco bedroom end table.  Now only is the coloring of the wood beautiful in its own right, the subtle geometric emphasis really makes it stand out.

In this next example, you see again the geometric emphasis of the design in this couch.  But more than that, the stark difference in color between the dark wood and the light fabric really makes the art deco couch stand out.  I don't often see this kind of thing in homes, but I've noticed that the art deco movement is beginning to gain a resurrgance, especially in bedroom furniture.

It's always been a dream of mine to build my own house someday. I don't know if I'll ever get there, but it's really fun surfing around the net looking for really cool exterior and interior designs. I've been looking at exterior stone and designs for the outside of the house and only recently have I begun to look at interior designs. When I came across all the art deco furniture there is out there, I got really excited about it. It's fun, not only having something functional like a couch or a chair, but having something that's artistically beautiful as well. Most art deco bedroom furniture is still somewhat expensive unfortunately. I've included some examples from Amazon below.

It's amazing when you surf the web, how much cool stuff there is out there, not only in the major places like Amazon and elsewhere, but also in places where handmade furniture is made. Some of the handmade art deco furniture is really awesome as well, but being in the realm of art, is still generally very expensive. For my own needs, I like to find something artistic that still fits within a budget. Hopefully, as art deco furniture starts becoming more mainstream, it'll continue to get more and more affordable, and by the time I'm ready to start building my house, I'll be able to fill it with cool looking geometric furniture. I guess we'll have to wait and see :)

Because of the resurgence of art deco as an art style, many modern renditions are being made of the traditional art deco style.  And though the modern renditions are very provocative and sleek, the antique art deco pieces are still some of the coolest designs.  To me, when an art form is able to come back into vogue after a long absence, it means that there's something about the art form that's central to human pleasure.  Unlike many art forms which have a quick fad and then fade away into obscurity, art deco relies not only on the creative spirit of the mind and heart, but also on the rigidity and beauty of geometric forms.  It's my personal opinion that art deco as a style will never fully disappear, and that's what's so great about many of the antiques in art deco.  In any enduring art form, the original will only continue to gain in value.  That's why I love the art deco movement so much.  Just ask yourself this question.  What could be better than not only getting a great and beautiful set of bedroom furniture, but a set of bedroom furniture that's only going to gain in value.  That's why I love antique art deco.  It's still very reasonably priced and will ultimately be a great investment I think.  Thanks for reading this article.  I hope you liked what you saw of art deco!
