35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide

35% food grade hydrogen peroxide is one of the most powerful and useful chemicals for household use. Not only is it extremely antibacterial and powerful at removing stains, it's also a very effective chlorine substitute for pools and spas. What's the difference between 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide and the regular grocery store hydrogen peroxide? The difference is the strength. Regular grocery store hydrogen peroxide is only 3% strength. For those who have used regular grocery store hydrogen peroxide, you know that even at that strength, it's still very effective. So you can imagine how 35% hydrogen peroxide would be. Below we'll cover the many uses of food grade hydrogen peroxide, plus the best deal I've been able to find on it in bulk.

Cheap 35% hydrogen Peroxide

35% hydrogen peroxide can be difficult to find, especially in stores. I've never seen it in a physical store, and it took me quite a bit of searching to find it online. But thankfully, I finally found it in bulk and at a pretty good price too. To the right is the best deal on 35% hydrogen peroxide that I've found, and I believe it gets free shipping too, which is a nice bonus. I'm not sure about the shipping, but since it's on Amazon and it's more than $25, I think it ships free. But don't hold me to that.

35% hydrogen peroxide is a great non-chlorine pool and spa sanitation method.

Uses for 35% Hydrogen Peroxide

  • Non-Chlorine Pool and Spa Sanitation -- 35% hydrogen peroxide is an especially effective non-chlorine sanitation method. It has a similar action as chlorine and oxidizes debris and harmful materials that enter the water, keeping it safe and sanitized in a more natural method than chlorine. Though you can't generally completely replace chlorine with hydrogen peroxide, you can greatly limit the need for chlorine in your pool or spa with the use of 35% hydrogen peroxide.
  • Stain Remover -- Hydrogen peroxide is one of the best stain removers on the planet. Even the 3% grocery store variety can bring out difficult stains like wine and others. Using stronger hydrogen peroxide just multiplies the effectiveness, but be careful that you don't use too strong of a solution. You might try diluting it before applying it to the stain.
  • Bleach Replacement -- Hydrogen peroxide can be used effectively as a natural bleach replacement for laundry as well as for sanitizing the kitchen and bathroom. Especially when combined with vinegar, hydrogen peroxide kills germs instantly. Just make sure you don't combine the hydrogen peroxide and the vinegar in the bottle. Keep two separate bottles and spray each on the surface. The reaction when they combine is what gives them their extra strength sanitizing power.
  • In the Garden -- Hydrogen peroxide can be used in the garden as well, but make sure you water it down to about 6% or so before using it. When sprayed on leaves and delivered into the soil, hydrogen peroxide oxygenates the area and kills negative bacteria. During thunderstorms, hydrogen peroxide is created naturally, and falls to the earth in rain droplets and has a positive renewing effect of plants.
  • For Health Benefits -- The 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide linked to above has been approved for human and animal consumption. Never drink it straight though. It must be watered down if you intend to consume it. No more than a few drops should be added to an 8 oz cup of water. Hydrogen peroxide oxygenates whatever it comes into contact with. Since many diseases live in an anaerobic environment, it is believed that hydrogen peroxide can help to deliver healing oxygen to the body. In fact, an experimental therapy called hydrogen peroxide therapy uses intravenous hydrogen peroxide to deliver hydrogen peroxide directly to diseased tissues such as tumors and cancerous areas, with the belief that the oxygenating effects of the hydrogen peroxide will help the body to wipe out and eliminate the diseased tissue.

Caution When Using 35% Hydrogen Peroxide

As I was reminded again by my friend Augasilver, you really need to have a healthy respect for how powerful 35% hydrogen peroxide is. If you ever get any of it on your skin, it will burn you and bleach your skin. Never use it without the right equipment and make sure to especially protect your eyes. This form of hydrogen peroxide is more than 10 times stronger than the grocery store variety and is extremely reactive.

Nicely written, possibly worth mentioning that H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) is also an ingredient in rocket fuel and other explosive substances, so if you order in bulk, you may be looked at by the Gestapo (sorry, Homeland Security) as a possible terrorist, it's the hydrogen peroxide that produces the bigger bang in bombs!

One should also keep it away from paper, as it can be combustive when dropped on paper!

Needless to say when you handle it, keep it off your hands and away from your eyes, it can burn you and you go a nice shade of white on the flesh it touches!

I experimented with it up to 12% and could have killed myself, by was saved by copious quantities of aloe vera juice to neutralise it, so NEVER go higher than 8% for health 'experiments' and if you do decide to test it out, the essential law is one drop extra each week, i.e. increase any dosage slowly and carefully.

PS.... never mix it with aluminium filings!

Wow, that is worth mentioning :) I'll put all of that in there. Thanks man. Since people are used to dealing with regular hydrogen peroxide, they probably don't have a healthy fear of how powerful it is.

Oh bejabbers me boyo, did you never do physics at school or make bombs in the playground!

My mate Paul DeBoos nearly blew his house front windows out experimenting with weedkiller and sugar, bloody deadly stuff for those who get it wrong, but that was in the days before folk made those bombs for real! - all we did was set them off in the local park playing field for fun.

Haha, that's awesome. Hopefully there won't be any kids who read this and get some crazy ideas :)
